Playoff Beard Rules

After serious scrutiny and exhaustive research of the history of the playoff beard and hockey player’s customs and superstitions, the following rules have been established for the proper playoff beard.

  • All beard growers should start with a clean shave on the first day of the playoffs.
  • Shaving while your team is in the playoffs is strictly prohibited.
  • Beard trimming is optional, but only allowed in between rounds, never during.
  • Growers have full reign to paint, dye and style their beard any way they wish.
  • A goatee and a mustache is not a beard. Don’t be fooled by imitations.
  • Growers should document their beard growth on beardathon.com.
  • All beard growers are encouraged to do their best to raise money for their team’s charity.
  • Beard growers are allowed to shave only when their team is eliminated from the playoffs or win the Stanley Cup™.

Disclaimer: All beards are subject to scrutiny. Don’t take it personal; it’s for a good cause!
